Microsoft already has the Windows Subsystem for Linux, so why not Android, too?

If you use Android apps on Windows, you're likely using the Windows Subsystem for Android. However, Microsoft has announced that they are sunsetting the service in 2025.

However, the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA), responsible for handling app support, remained available only to Windows Insiders in some markets, with limited functionality.

Microsoft's Windows Subsystem for Linux will be a fully supported feature in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, but it won't support end-user scenarios.

Sysadmins and developers rejoice! WSL is now a fully fledged part of Windows 10, starting with the latest Fall Creators Update.

The latest version of Windows 11 Subsystem for Android, in testing, runs all of your apps on the latest Android 12.1.

Windows Developer Platform Program Manager Craig Loewen said in a recent blog post that the Windows Subsystem for Linux made for the Windows 10 systems are here.

Thankfully however, the arrival of Windows Subsystem for Android lets you run apps from Google 's mobile operating system to run natively in Windows 11, albeit with some help from Amazon.
