Watch out when handing an old Windows PC to a new owner after resetting it. Some of your files could still be on there.

As noted in the intro, although our old programs weren't actually installed in the new instance of Windows, they were still listed on the Start Menu and launched fine from the Windows.old folder.

This folder occupies a large amount of storage and isn't easily deleted directly from File Explorer, though you can browse the contents at C:\Windows.old.
