Microsoft Edge will drop support for Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 after the release of version 109 on January 12th, 2023.

Microsoft Edge is dropping its Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 support starting January 2023. What does the lack of support actually mean to these versions?

The latest Microsoft Edge 107 update is only available on Windows 10 and 11. However, Microsoft has also prepared a small browser update for those still using Windows 7, 8, and 8.1.

Windows 7 and 8 support will also end for Microsoft Edge Webview2, which can use Edge's rendering engine to embed webpages in non-Edge apps.

Following in the footsteps of Chrome, Microsoft will end support for Edge on older versions of Windows.
