Microsoft began installing the new Edge browser on Windows PCs as part of the Windows 10 October 2020 Update. Now a new patch will uninstall the old Edge in April.
Since Edge comes pre-installed on every Windows 10 and 11 PC, and users are often forced to use it for certain system features, many want out and wish they could remove it from their PC entirely.
Microsoft had page on how to uninstall Microsoft Edge for a limited time, though the page never included steps on how to remove the browser.
A guide that claimed to include steps to uninstall Microsoft Edge from a PC has since been taken down.
The new Microsoft Edge has been out for over a year, and now it's set to replace the old Edge on Windows 10.
In March, Microsoft will end support for Edge Legacy, the browser that shipped with Windows 10, before removing it entirely in April.
Microsoft is promising to add, after RTM, a number of new features -- and to cut some legacy ones -- with its Windows 10 Edge browser.
