Amazon announced it is shutting down its 'Amazon Appstore for Android' this summer as part of a broader effort to streamline and improve its services and programs.
Amazon first launched the Appstore in March, 2011 as an app that could be installed on Android phones and tablets. The first Amazon Fire-branded tablet didn’t launch until half a year later.
Amazon is discontinuing its Appstore for Android devices in August 2025. Fire TV and Fire Tablet users remain unaffected, though.
The advisory continued, “If you have a question when you’re delivering, you can contact our driver support team through the Amazon Flex app.
To drive for Amazon Flex, Android users need to have phones running Android 11 or newer, while iPhone users need to be on iOS 17 at a minimum.
