In its first major update, Windows 11 gained the ability to have tabs in File Explorer, released in October 2022, to the relief of many.

For some time now, File Explorer has been easier than ever to use thanks to the tabs feature. Just like in any modern web browser, you can open multiple locations in their own tabs at the same time.

After many weeks of rumors, Microsoft has come out and confirmed that Windows 11 is getting a tab experience in File Explorer.

You cannot select and move a tab or multiple tabs from one File Explorer window of Windows 11 to another. You can only drag a single tab out at a time and open it in a new window.
